SWISS INLAND CREWING
Swiss employment.
European inland shipping.
Connecting European crewing partners, Swiss vessel operators
and qualified inland shipping professionals.
A NEW CHAPTER
Built on experience.
Ready to connect.
After years of research, specialist training, consultation and preparation, Swiss Inland Solutions is expanding its activities through Swiss Inland Crewing.
Our organisation has been involved in the employment, payroll and personnel administration of hundreds of inland shipping professionals. We are building on that experience with a specialised structure for temporary and flexible personnel solutions within the applicable Swiss framework.
Built through practice, not just planning
Swiss Inland Crewing grew out of years of involvement in European inland shipping and the employment administration behind it. Working with personnel aboard Swiss-operated vessels gave our organisation a practical understanding of the questions that arise when people live, work and move across borders.
Turning that experience into a specialised crewing structure required more than a network of available professionals. It meant bringing together Swiss employment requirements, temporary staffing arrangements, social security and the particular documentation involved in Rhine navigation. Research, specialist training and discussions with the relevant institutions became an important part of that preparation.
A significant milestone in the A1 process
A particular focus was the A1 documentation process for the arrangements we were developing. Our organisation invested considerable time in this work, including meetings with AHV and Port of Switzerland to discuss the proposed approach and the questions surrounding it.
Following these discussions, the approach submitted for consideration ultimately received approval from the competent authority. For our organisation, this represented a significant milestone: the result of sustained preparation, direct dialogue and a determination to address the underlying requirements carefully.
This experience is part of the foundation on which we are developing Swiss Inland Crewing. The approval relates to the arrangements considered in that process; documentation for an individual assignment remains subject to the applicable requirements and assessment.
From preparation to a practical connection
The value of this work reaches beyond a single administrative step. It has deepened our understanding of how employment documentation, social-security administration and the realities of inland shipping fit together — and how important it is to coordinate them from the outset.
For European crewing partners, that means a Swiss organisation familiar with the questions behind an assignment. For Swiss vessel operators, it means a point of contact that understands both the need for qualified relief personnel and the preparation required around their engagement. For crew members, it means attention to the employment arrangements behind their work on board.
That is the purpose of Swiss Inland Crewing: to connect European professionals and crewing partners with vessels under Swiss flag or Swiss exploitation, building on practical experience, specialist preparation and cooperation with the relevant institutions.

02 FOR SWISS VESSEL OPERATORS
Flexible crew.
Coordinated
from Switzerland.
Relief crewing for Swiss-operated inland vessels calls for more than finding an available professional. The assignment must also fit the employment and administrative requirements of the Swiss inland shipping market.
Swiss Inland Crewing focuses exclusively on inland vessels under Swiss flag or Swiss exploitation. Our specialist training, certification and practical experience underpin a dedicated approach to this market, supported by our established Swiss organisation.
We connect vessel operators with qualified European professionals for planned relief, holiday cover, sickness replacement, rotation support, busy periods and longer-term flexible assignments. Each request is considered in relation to the vessel, required function, qualifications, trading area and expected duration.
We coordinate the relevant employment arrangements and documentation within the applicable Swiss framework, with crew engaged on the Swiss employment terms applicable to their assignment. The scope of each engagement is matched to the relevant requirements and authorisations.
One Swiss point of contact, with an understanding of both the practical realities on board and the organisation behind a crew change.
